Brass Bedlam’s festival show “Play That Junky Music!” premiered at the 2012 Melbourne International Comedy Festival with rave reviews.
“Musicians Bernie Hickey and Katy Addis have been working with and playing for children for a long time – and it shows. ….Play That Junky Music! bridges the generation gap, bringing smiles and laughter to faces of every audience member, regardless of age. Audience participation is a focus of the show, but be warned – being a grown-up doesn’t exempt you from taking part. The talented duo turn op-shop junk into funny-sounding instruments but when they have proper brass instruments in their hands their real musical talents shine.” Herald Sun. Stars: ★★★★
When two crazy customers stumble into a junk shop, they find a stash of junk than can be turned into absurd musical instruments. Before long the performers and the audience are creating bedlam and creating some “junky music” together. Audience members form a marching band and are led a merry dance. Brass instruments are discovered and the kids are taken on adventures that involve mad mariachi bands, ruthless Russian soldiers and other manic journeys.
“Play That Junky Music!” is a one hour show, suitable for kids’ entertainment at festivals. The show is available in Victoria, Australia. For more details and prices please contact Brass Bedlam.
